Kumasi Asante Kotoko head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, has predicted a tightly contested and exciting fixture when his side takes on Accra Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday in an outstanding Week 22 Ghana Premier League match.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Dr. Ogum acknowledged the high stakes for both teams, with Kotoko pushing for the title and Accra Lions fighting to escape relegation.
While they are trying to stay out of relegation, we are also trying to compete for the league title, so it is going to be a closed and interesting game in terms of who wins, Dr. Ogum said
The Porcupine Warriors currently sit at the summit of the league table with 47 points, while Accra Lions are 16th with 26 points, a precarious position that will see them desperate to pick up valuable points at home.
Kotoko won the reverse fixture 1-0 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium earlier in the season, but Ogum is not underestimating the threat posed by their opponents, especially given their current situation on the log.
He also noted that while his team is tactically prepared, there are concerns regarding fatigue following a demanding travel and match schedule. However, Ogum remains confident that Kotoko will be ready to deliver.
The match promises to be a crucial one for both ends of the table, title contenders versus survival seekers, as midweek football lights up the Ghana Premier League.
Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 PM at the Accra Sports Stadium.
