Ghanaian winger Ernest Nuamah scored his first goal of the season in the UEFA Europa League as Olympique Lyon secured a 3-2 comeback victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday evening.
The win at the Groupama Stadium keeps Lyon’s hopes of progressing in the Europa League alive.
Eintracht Frankfurt took the lead in the 18th minute through German-born Ghanaian Ansgar Knauff, who calmly finished to open the scoring. Lyon equalized in the 27th minute with a strike from Rayan Cherki.
Early in the second half, Lyon gained the advantage when Belgian international Malick Fofana scored in the 50th minute. Nuamah then extended Lyon’s lead just four minutes later with a stunning goal, set up by Rayan Cherki.
Frankfurt pulled one back in the 85th minute through Omar Marmoush, but it wasn’t enough to deny Lyon the win.
Nuamah has now registered one goal and one assist in 14 appearances for Olympique Lyon this season.
