Evelyn Nsiah Asare Calls for More Women Inclusion in Ghana Football Leadership

Chief Executive Officer of Hasaacas Ladies and Vice President of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), Evelyn Nsiah Asare, has called for increased representation of women in the top hierarchy of football administration in Ghana.

Speaking ahead of the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) 31st Ordinary Congress, scheduled for today, Tuesday, August 12, 2025, Nsiah Asare urged stakeholders to take deliberate steps to ensure women are given more opportunities in decision-making positions within the sport.

“I want to see more women inclusion in Ghana football’s top hierarchy,” she said. “We have talented, competent, and experienced women in our football space who can contribute meaningfully to the growth of the game. This is not about tokenism — it is about giving deserving individuals the platform to make a difference.”

The 31st Ordinary Congress will deliberate on key issues shaping the future of Ghana football, including governance reforms, competition structures, and development strategies. Nsiah Asare believes women’s participation at the leadership level will help bring fresh perspectives and balance to football administration.

“When women are part of the conversation at the highest level, it reflects diversity in thought, decision-making, and approach,” she added. “It also sends a strong signal to young girls that there’s a place for them, not only on the pitch but also in the boardroom.”

The GFA Congress, taking place at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, has drawn members from across the football fraternity, with debates on inclusivity featuring prominently in the discussions.
