Fatau Dauda Urges Ghanaians to Back The Black Stars For World Cup Qualification Spot
Black Stars goalkeepers’ trainer Fatau Dauda has called on Ghanaians to rally behind the team as they prepare for two crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches in September against Chad and Mali.
Ghana sits atop Group I with 15 points, three clear of second-placed Comoros, and will face Chad and Mali during the upcoming international break. With just four matches left, Dauda stressed that winning the upcoming games will be key to securing qualification.
To qualify for the tournament, you need to win the games. And to win the games, you have to score,” Dauda told Citi Sports. “We are telling Ghanaians to pray for us. We are going to do the job, and the players are going to play, so we need to win these matches, which will not be easy.”
He acknowledged that while calculations on qualification scenarios are ongoing, the focus remains on delivering victories in the final fixtures.
What we have played is gone; now we have two games ahead of us, and we have to do everything possible to win,” he added.
The Black Stars will be aiming to maintain their top spot and secure an automatic ticket to the 2026 World Cup when they take on Chad and Mali next month.
