Felix Romark Highlights Goal Scoring as Asante Kotoko’s Major Problem

Renowned journalist and sports analyst Felix Romark has identified goal-scoring inefficiency as the primary issue hindering Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s progress in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.

Speaking on Inside the Ghana Premier League on The BAC Sports, Romark emphasized the need for Kotoko to address their attacking struggles to remain competitive.

“Kotoko’s inability to convert chances is a glaring problem,” Romark said. “It’s not just about creating opportunities; it’s about making them count. If you’re not scoring, you’re not winning consistently, and that’s been their Achilles’ heel this season.”

The Porcupine Warriors have managed just 10 goals in 12 league games, a tally that places them among the league’s lowest-scoring teams.

Only seven of the 18 teams in the league have fewer goals, including rivals Hearts of Oak (9), Samartex (9), and Dreams FC (4). Despite their historically strong attacking reputation, Kotoko’s only game in which they have scored more than once this season came in their recent 2-0 victory over Aduana Stars.

“Kotoko’s attack is not firing, and it’s a big concern,” Romark added. “Yes, they started the season well, going unbeaten in their first six games, but the lack of goals caught up with them during that five-game winless streak. That tells you how critical this issue is.”

Romark attributed the struggles to poor finishing and a lack of cutting-edge creativity in the final third. “It’s not about not creating chances; it’s about what you do with those chances. Kotoko’s strikers and attacking midfielders need to step up because that’s where games are won or lost.”

Kotoko’s inability to score regularly has put them under pressure despite a decent defensive record, conceding 9 goals.

The club began the season on a high note, going unbeaten in their first six games, but their five-match winless streak before defeating Aduana Stars showcased the urgency to address their offensive shortcomings.

Striker Albert Amoah has been one of the brightest spots in the Kotoko set up. The summer arrival from Great Olympics has netted 6 goals out of the 10 for Kotoko, placing him second in the race for the goal king behind Nations FC’s Faisal Charwetey who has 8 to his name.
