Ghanaian midfielder Francis Abu has completed a transfer to French Ligue 1 side, Toulouse from Belgian club Cercle Brugge, in a deal reportedly worth €2.5 million.
The 24-year-old signed a four-year contract with the French outfit during the ongoing summer transfer window, bringing an end to his stint in Belgium where he made 100 appearances, scored three goals, and provided seven assists.
Abu, a graduate of Ghana’s Right to Dream Academy, expressed his excitement about the move in his first interview with Toulouse:
“I’m very happy to be here. I can’t wait to start this new challenge and join this wonderful family. I’m also looking forward to discovering the Pink City and meeting all the club’s incredible supporters,” he said.
Before settling on Toulouse, Abu attracted interest from several European clubs, including Başakşehir FK and Trabzonspor in Turkey, as well as Burnley, Torino, and Genoa.
He began his professional journey in Europe with Danish club FC Nordsjælland before moving to Cercle Brugge, and now looks to take the next step in Ligue 1 with Toulouse.
