Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Vice President, Fred Pappoe has said his doors are still open when he is called on to assist the current administration.
The Kurt Okraku-led administration has come under criticism following the lack of progression of football in the country.
The Ghana Premier League has struggled to attract the numbers and with the various national teams struggling, Mr Pappoe has opened his doors, saying he is ever ready to assist the current country’s football governing body.
“I am a footballer person and I have a genuine love for the game so if I am called upon to help, why not?” he told Starr FM
“My doors are always open,” he added.
The senior national team, the Black Stars, has struggled to flourish at major tournaments. Ghana suffered a group phase elimination for the first time in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon in 2021.
At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the Black Stars again suffered a group-stage elimination. At the 2023 AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast, the senior national teams again suffered a group phase elimination.
For the first time in two decades, the Black Stars will not participate in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament which is scheduled to be hosted in Morocco after finishing at the bottom of Group F with three points.
During the leadership of Fred Pappoe as the Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the Black Stars qualified for its maiden World Cup in Germany and also played in the quarterfinals of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
