Former Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Gifty Oware-Mensah, has been released by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) following questioning related to an ongoing ghost names scandal at the Scheme.

Authorities have not confirmed whether she will face any formal charges.

Oware-Mensah, who also serves on the Ghana Football Association’s Executive Council, was reportedly taken into custody on Friday, March 7. She was released on Saturday, March 8, after cooperating with investigators.

Sources indicate that her questioning is part of a broader probe into alleged irregularities within the NSS.

According to Citi News, she may be recalled for further interrogation as investigations progress. However, her level of involvement, if any, remains unclear.

Oware-Mensah, who played a key role in the Scheme’s administration and financial management, has not yet issued a public statement on the matter.

The investigation remains active as officials work to determine the full scope of the alleged scandal.
