Ghana Premier League clubs have pledged to prevent a recurrence of the violent clashes that marred the Matchweek 19 fixture between Nsoatreman FC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC.
In response to the tragic death of Kotoko supporter Francis Yaw “Pooley” Frimpong during the game, the clubs have agreed to implement stricter security protocols once the league resumes. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) had earlier suspended all league matches following the incident.
This decision was reached during an emergency meeting between club representatives and the GFA at the association’s headquarters.
Meanwhile, six individuals, including Nsoatreman FC’s Executive Chairman, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, have been arrested in connection with Pooley’s death. Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
