Ghana Premier League Clubs Receive Historic Boost Ahead of New Season

Ghana Premier League clubs in the 2025-2026 season have received a major boost, as the Ghana Football Association (GFA) disburse GHS 1 million to each of the 18 top-flight teams under a landmark partnership with Adesa Productions Limited.

The historic support, unveiled by GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku during the announcement of Adesa as the league’s new broadcast rights holder, reflects a growing emphasis on professionalising domestic football and equipping clubs to compete at higher levels.

“This initiative strengthens clubs’ financial stability, enhances player welfare, and raises the overall competitiveness of the league,” Simeon-Okraku stated, fulfilling a promise made at the GFA’s 31st Ordinary Congress saying “Every club will receive a minimum of one million cedis before the season kicks off.”

In addition to the cash injection, the GFA has supplied each club with 30 footballs and 30 pairs of boots, ensuring players are fully equipped for training and matches. Across the league, that totals 540 footballs and 540 pairs of boots — a concrete step toward improving matchday and training standards.

The partnership with Adesa Productions is part of a broader commercialisation strategy aimed at maximising sponsorships, boosting broadcast revenues, and raising the global profile of the GPL.

For clubs, the support not only alleviates operational pressures but also empowers them to focus on development, performance, and long-term sustainability.

With this historic backing, the Ghana Premier League is taking significant strides toward becoming a more professional, competitive, and internationally recognised competition.
