Ghana is set to host the maiden edition of the U-20 WAFU A&B Boys Cup in June 2025, marking a significant milestone in West African youth football development. The announcement follows Ghana’s successful staging of the CAF African Schools Football Championship at the University of Ghana Stadium in April.

Scheduled from June 15 to 30, the tournament will bring together all 16 nations within the West African region. Participating countries include Cape Verde, The Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Guinea, Mali, Liberia, Mauritania, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Niger, Nigeria, Togo, and host nation Ghana.

This upcoming event will be the first of its kind at the U-20 level, merging the previously separate WAFU A and WAFU B competitions. Traditionally, these tournaments have also served as qualifiers for the U-20 CAF Africa Cup of Nations, offering young players valuable international experience.

The matches will be held at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, with the tournament final scheduled for the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra. Organizers believe this
