Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has assured the public that a full investigation will be launched into the death of Nigerian boxer Segun Olanrewaju.

Speaking on Sporty FM’s Sporty Breakfast show, Adams emphasized transparency in the process, stating,

We’ll institute a committee to go into it [death of Nigerian boxer]. I can assure all that nothing will be covered. This matter will be investigated.

The circumstances surrounding Olanrewaju’s tragic passing have raised questions, particularly regarding his medical clearance to fight.

Conflicting reports have emerged from both Ghana and Nigeria, with Adams acknowledging the uncertainty.

The conversation is not clear. The Ghana side says the boxer [Segun Olanrewaju] was medically cleared to fight. The Nigeria side says he wasn’t given clearance to fight.

This contradiction has fueled calls for a thorough probe to determine whether proper protocols were followed before the fight. Adams’ commitment to an investigation aims to bring clarity and prevent further speculation.

As the boxing community mourns Olanrewaju’s loss, both Ghanaian and Nigerian authorities are expected to collaborate in uncovering the truth.
