Ghanaian Internationals Make Headlines Across Europe and Beyond
It was a weekend to remember for several Ghanaian footballers as they delivered eye-catching performances across the globe, marking debuts, scoring crucial goals, and making valuable contributions for their clubs.
In France, Ibrahim Osman wasted no time impressing on his Auxerre debut, providing the decisive assist in their 1-0 win over Lorient.

He was joined by compatriots Gideon Mensah and Elisha Owusu, who also featured prominently in the Ligue 1 encounter.
Over in the Netherlands, Ibrahim Sadiq got off the mark for the season, scoring in AZ Alkmaar’s 2-2 Eredivisie draw with Volendam.

In Belgium, midfielder Lawrence Agyekum provided an assist in Cercle Brugge’s convincing 4-1 win over Westerlo in the Jupiler Pro League.
In Denmark, 18-year-old Prince Amoako grabbed a goal for Nordsjaelland, though his side suffered a 3-1 defeat to Copenhagen — their fourth consecutive league loss in the Danish SuperLiga.
Fellow Ghanaians Caleb Yirenkye (90 minutes) and Stephen Acquah (45 minutes) also featured in the game for Nordsjaelland.
Across the Atlantic, Joseph Paintsil continued his fine form in Major League Soccer, netting his fifth goal of the campaign, though his strike could not prevent LA Galaxy from falling 3-1 to Inter Miami.

Spain saw double debuts for Ghanaian midfielders. Thomas Partey came off the bench to make his first appearance for Villarreal in a 2-0 win over Real Oviedo, while Akwasi Sibo earned his maiden La Liga outing for Oviedo in the same game.

Defender Abdul Mumin also stood tall for Rayo Vallecano, playing the full 90 minutes in a 3-1 victory over Girona.
In England, Antoine Semenyo rose above controversy in emphatic style. After being subjected to racial abuse at Anfield, the Bournemouth forward silenced the crowd with a stunning brace, though his side eventually lost 4-2 to Liverpool.
Meanwhile in the Championship, Brandon Thomas-Asante was on target for Coventry City, scoring his first goal of the season to inspire a 5-2 comeback win against Derby County.
Also in the Championship, both Fatawu Issahaku and Jordan Ayew featured in Leicester City’s 2-1 defeat to Preston North End. Ayew lasted the entire game while Issahaku was replaced in the 86th minute.
Perhaps the biggest spotlight was on Mohammed Kudus, who received a standing ovation on his Premier League debut for Tottenham Hotspur. The Ghanaian playmaker set up two assists in Spurs’ 3-1 triumph over Burnley, immediately winning the hearts of the North London faithful.
From Europe to America, Ghana’s stars are leaving their mark, proving once again that Black Stars players remain central figures in their clubs’ ambitions this season. With such strong starts for some of the players, expectations will only grow higher in the weeks ahead.
