Accra Hearts of Oak’s star striker, Hamzah Issah, netted two goals for the Phobians to help them beat Karela United 3-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday night.
This was a rare win for Hearts against Karela United as the away side had previously lost only once to the Phobians before today’s game.
However, a brace from new sensation, Hamzah Issah on the 28th and 89th minutes, either side of a long range strike from substitute, Salim Adams on the 62nd minute, helped Hearts of Oak secure their second ever win against Karela United in as many games since the latter’s promotion to the Ghana Premier League.
Despite this result, Karela still have the upper hand in the head-to-head battle with four win, two losses and six draws.
Issah’s brace has now made him the outright top scorer in the Ghana Premier League with 11 goals, surpassing Stephen Amankonah of Berekum Chelsea and Afriyie Boateng of Nations FC, who are both tied on 10 goals.
The head coach of Karela United, Abubakari Damba, accepted defeat, and was full of praise for Hearts of Oak for their impressive performance.
I must say Hearts of Oak was a delight to watch. They played with so much momentum. Football is about taking your chances and Hearts of Oak just deserved to win this game because they took their chances – Abubakari Damba.
