Hasaacas Ladies Crash Out of CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers Despite Impressive Win

Hasaacas Ladies’ hopes of qualifying for the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League have been dashed despite a resounding 6-1 victory over AS Garde Nationale in their final group match of the WAFU B qualifiers.

The Ghanaian champions needed a significant goal difference to secure second place and advance to the semifinals, but a combination of their previous results and Edo Queens’ 1-0 win over AO Etincelle proved fatal.

Fatoumata Toumboura, Grace Animah, and a hat-trick hero Comfort Owusu were on target for Hasaacas, with Abigail Sakyiwaa adding a late sixth.

However, their impressive performance was overshadowed by the disappointing outcome, exiting at the group stage.

Edo Queens topped the group, with AO Etincelle securing the second qualifying spot based on goal difference. Hasaacas Ladies finished third, while AS Garde Nationale brought up the rear.

The result is a bitter pill to swallow for Hasaacas Ladies, who will now have to regroup and focus on domestic competitions.
