Hearts of Oak Goalkeeper Ofori Antwi Insists He’s Not Released, Calls Out Club Over Injury Treatment

Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper, Eric Ofori Antwi, has refuted rumors of his release by the club.

In an interview on Sports Arena aired on Mybet.africa Tv, Antwi clarified his status, “I’m injured, that’s why I’m not part of the team at the moment.”

He further emphasized, “I still have a contract with the club which runs until August 2025.”

However, Antwi’s interview took a more critical turn as he accused Hearts of Oak of neglecting him during his injury.

He claimed the club has not taken any steps towards his treatment, stating, “I was told by a doctor that I will need surgery, but Hearts has taken no action towards it.”

Antwi alleges the club’s stance is that he was injured before joining them, absolving them of any responsibility for his rehabilitation.

This situation paints a concerning picture for Antwi. With a valid contract until next year, he faces an uncertain future while sidelined with an injury.

The goalkeeper, who previously played for Asante Kotoko, Medeama, and Legon Cities, has made a limited number of appearances for Hearts of Oak since joining two seasons ago.

It remains to be seen how Hearts of Oak will respond to Antwi’s public claims as  the club’s handling of the situation could potentially lead to further conflict or a possible resolution involving his treatment and contractual status.
