Accra Hearts of Oak lost their third consecutive league game to Medeama SC today at the Akoon Park in Tarkwa.

The Phobians, undefeated in their previous five league games under Ivorian tactician, Abubakar Ouattara, have now lost their last three games against Samartex, Bibiani Goldstars, and Medeama SC.

The one time CAF Confederation Cup winners went to Tarkwa, desperate to end their run of two games without picking up at least a point since beating Heart of Lions on 18th March.

That was not to be as they stumbled to a 2-0 defeat at a venue where they struggle to pickup points.

Hearts of Oak began the game on a brighter note, controlling the tempo, creating some decent chances, and also limiting the home side to very limited chances.

The first half ended with nothing to separate the two sides.

However, Medeama took the lead with 65 minutes of action played through Kobina Amoah.

Hearts pressed for the equalizer but the resolute defence of the defending league champions was on high alert, thwarting any dangers the Phobians posed.

The game was finally put to bed when Godfred Abban doubled Medeama’s lead in the 81st minute to put the game beyond Hearts’ reach.

This defeat is the Phobians’ 7th in the league this season and their third in successive games.

Hearts of Oak has now dropped to 11th position in the league with 32 points and are far from mounting a title challenge.
