Jamie Vardy, one of the most iconic figures in Leicester City’s history, has announced he will leave the club at the end of the current season, bringing to an end an unforgettable 13-year spell at the King Power Stadium.
Vardy, 38, leaves behind a legacy few could have imagined when he signed from non-league side Fleetwood Town in 2012. Since then, he has made 496 appearances, scored 198 goals, and contributed 69 assists for the Foxes, etching his name into the annals of English football history.
I feel gutted this day is coming, but I knew it would come eventually,” Vardy said in an emotional statement. “I have had 13 unbelievable years at this club, with lots of success, and some downs, but the majority all highs. Leicester will always have a place in my heart.
Vardy played a central role in Leicester’s historic Premier League title triumph in the 2015/16 season, a 5000-to-1 fairy tale that stunned the world. He also lifted the FA Cup in 2021 and the Community Shield shortly after. Notably, Vardy set a Premier League record by scoring in 11 consecutive matches during that magical 2015/16 campaign.
From a non-league hopeful to a top-flight legend, Vardy’s story has inspired countless fans and aspiring footballers. He leaves Leicester not only as a champion but as a symbol of resilience, belief, and excellence.
With his departure, an era ends—but Vardy’s name will forever be synonymous with Leicester City’s golden age.
A legend, a leader, a Fox forever.
