Ghana and LA Galaxy forward, Joseph Paintsil is facing a spell on the sidelines after sustaining a quad injury, which could keep him out for up to two months. This setback comes just ahead of the 2025 Major League Soccer (MLS) season, posing a significant challenge for both club and country.

The 27-year-old winger, who joined LA Galaxy last year from Belgian side KRC Genk in a $10 million deal, enjoyed a stellar debut campaign. He played a crucial role in the team’s MLS success, scoring 14 goals and providing 8 assists in 34 matches across the regular season and playoffs.

With LA Galaxy set to begin their title defense against San Diego FC on February 23, Paintsil is expected to miss the early part of the season as he recovers.

His injury also raises concerns for the Black Stars, as he remains a major doubt for Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar in matchdays five and six.
