Ghanaian sprinter, Joseph Paul Amoah etched his name in the history books on Friday, 22th March, securing a narrow victory in the men’s 200m final at the 13th African Games in Accra.
Amoah clocked a time of 20.70 seconds, leaving his competitors in the dust.
This incredible feat marks not only his own personal triumph but also Ghana’s first gold medal in the men’s 200m event since 1973, when Ohene Karikari achieved the same feat.
The race was undoubtedly tough, but Amoah’s determination and powerful finish propelled him to the top spot on the podium.

Following closely behind were Emmanuel Claude Itounue Bongogne of Cameroon (20.74 seconds) and Nigeria’s Consider Ekanem (20.80 seconds), who claimed silver and bronze medals respectively.
