Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has described Algeria as the most organized team at the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, but insists Ghana must approach their quarter-final match with confidence and belief.
Ghana face the undefeated and defensively solid North African side on July 19, with a place in the semi-finals at stake.
“The Algeria team is very organized; maybe the best organized team in this tournament,” Björkegren admitted. “It is going to be a difficult game for us for sure. We need to do our things, keep building. We need to not be scared out there but see things in the opposite way—that we actually have a great chance to go to the next round.”
The Black Queens are hoping to reach the semi-finals of WAFCON for the first time since 2016 in what promises to be a high-stakes showdown on Saturday.
