Following the recent departure of Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum as head coach of Asante Kotoko, former Kotoko Express columnist Kojo Addae Mensah has waded into the conversation, stating that the club missed an opportunity to make a bold and strategic appointment.

Speaking on Luv FM, Addae Mensah argued that Kotoko should have targeted renowned South African coach Pitso Mosimane as Ogum’s replacement, rather than settling for a local interim setup.

Asante Kotoko should have gone for Pitso Mosimane as coach Prosper Ogum’s replacement, he stated.

Dr. Ogum was sacked after a string of poor results, culminating in a heavy 3-0 defeat to Accra Lions, which many believed sealed his fate. In response, the club quickly named Karim Zito and Prince Owusu to take charge of the team for the rest of the 2024/25 season.

However, Addae Mensah believes Kotoko should have aimed higher, arguing that Mosimane’s experience and pedigree could have transformed the fortunes of the club and elevated it to continental competitiveness.
