Black Stars legend Sulley Muntari, has predicted that Mohammed Kudus will one day captain Ghana’s senior national team, but urged for the process to be handled with care to ensure a smooth transition.

In an interview with TV3, Muntari praised the West Ham midfielder’s immense talent, emphasizing that Kudus is only beginning to showcase his potential and has a bright future ahead.

Touching on the ongoing captaincy debate, which has sparked controversy in recent years, particularly under coach Otto Addo, Muntari called for patience. Kudus briefly captained the Black Stars during a 2025 AFCON qualifier against Sudan but was later replaced by Jordan Ayew as Ghana failed to secure qualification.

Thomas Partey and Alexander Djiku have also served as Black Stars captains in recent years. For Muntari, Kudus is destined to take on the leadership role eventually, but he cautioned against rushing the process.

“Kudus, no matter what, is going to be the captain of the national team one day. Let it be smooth for him, don’t just rush him. He doesn’t even need the armband right now. Let him just enjoy his football. Kudus hasn’t fully realized his potential yet. What we are seeing are just flashes of how great he can be. That guy is simply amazing,” Muntari said.
