West Ham United and Ghana midfielder, Mohammed Kudus continues to shine, securing the coveted Footballer of the Year award for the second consecutive year at the Ghana Football Awards ceremony held on June 29th.
This impressive feat places him alongside Thomas Partey as the only players to achieve back-to-back wins in the award’s history.
Kudus’s triumph comes after a remarkable debut season in the English Premier League with West Ham United.
Following his transfer from Ajax last summer, he quickly established himself as a key player for the Hammers. His talent shone through with a stellar performance, contributing a noteworthy 14 goals across all competitions, along with a number of assists.
Kudus in his acceptance remarked how excited he is to win the award.
“I’m happy to be recognized as the Player of the Year, it is a testament of my hard work and dedication. It’s just the beginning and a motivation for me to keep going.”
On the night, the West Ham United Star secured one other award, bagging the goal of the year gong with his amazing goal against Freiburg in the UEFA Europa League, where he dribbled from inside his own area through the Freiburg midfield and defense before slotting a shot with his weaker right foot past the on rushing goalkeeper.
This recognition by the Ghana Football Awards is a testament to Kudus’s growth as footballer and becoming a key figure for the senior national team, the Black Stars.
