Kwara United Optimistic Ahead of CAF Confederation Cup Clash with Kotoko

Kwara United’s General Manager, Mallam Bashir Badawiy, has expressed quiet confidence as his side prepares to face Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko in the preliminary round of the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup.

The Ilorin-based club will make the trip to Ghana between September 19–21 for the first leg before hosting the Porcupine Warriors in Nigeria from September 26–28. The winner of the tie will advance to face Moroccan powerhouse Wydad Casablanca in the second preliminary round.

Badawiy says the squad is motivated to surpass their last outing in the competition and will approach the challenge with humility but determination.

We respect Kotoko, but we also believe in our own abilities. Our aim is to give everything on the pitch and make our supporters proud, he stated.

He also reflected on the unpredictability of African football, noting the shifting dominance in Ghana’s league over the years.

Football is about moments — today it’s one team, tomorrow it’s another. We’re ready to seize ours,” he added.
