Legon Cities have officially parted ways with head coach Yaw Acheampong following a string of underwhelming performances that have left the club dangerously close to relegation.

Acheampong took charge in January after the resignation of Paa Kwasi Fabin, but failed to inspire a turnaround for the struggling side. His reign was marred by inconsistent form and disappointing results, culminating in a narrow 1-0 loss to Basake Holy Stars—a defeat that ultimately sealed his fate.

The former Aduana Stars boss was considered a risky appointment by many, especially after being dismissed by Aduana earlier in the season. Despite this, the Legon Cities hierarchy placed their trust in his experience, hoping he could steady the ship. Unfortunately, his tenure yielded just 4 wins, 2 draws, and 7 defeats from 13 matches.

In response, the club have appointed Tijani  Abdul Rahim as Acheampong’s replacement. Rahim, who previously served as an assistant coach at the club under Maxwell Konadu and also managed Young Apostles, now faces the daunting task of keeping the Royals in the top flight with only five matches remaining in the season.

The club and its supporters will be hoping that this latest change can provide the spark needed to avoid relegation.
