The Minister Designate for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, has vowed to strengthen security measures at stadiums nationwide to protect fans, players, and officials following the recent incident involving a Kotoko supporter.
Speaking to the press, Adams condemned the violence, stressing its harmful effects on Ghanaian football, especially at a time when efforts are being made to revive enthusiasm for the local game.
It is a wake-up call to look at our security at stadia. We will have to review security at stadia and see to improving security at our stadia and also emergency responses. We need to review all these and make sure we bring it to standard,” he added.
In response to the incident, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has indefinitely banned the use of Nana Konamansah Park and has taken disciplinary action against both Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko.
