MTN Ghana Becomes Headline Sponsor of Four National Football Teams in $2 Million Deal

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has struck a landmark $2 million sponsorship agreement with the MTN Ghana taking up the mantle as headline sponsor for four national football teams—the Black Stars, Black Queens, Black Satellites, Black Starlets—as well as the Elite U-19 Championship for the next two years.

The partnership, announced on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at MTN House in Accra, will run until August 2027, providing crucial financial and logistical backing for team development, training, and preparations ahead of major competitions.

MTN Ghana CEO Stephen Blewett described the deal as a commitment to “the country’s biggest brand—the Black Stars—alongside our other national teams,” stressing the company’s belief in Ghana’s youth, the unifying power of sports, and football’s unique ability to tell the nation’s story to the world.

He also recalled MTN’s long-standing ties with Ghanaian football, particularly through its sponsorship of the MTN FA Cup since 2010, which has grown into one of the country’s most competitive tournaments involving clubs from all divisions.

“From supporting the Black Stars at their first World Cup in 2006 to mobilising fans for AFCON tournaments, MTN has always stood behind Ghana’s footballing dreams,” Blewett affirmed.
