Asante Kotoko’s fans endured a night of disappointment today, 24th March, as their team fell to a 1-0 defeat to Nations FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
This Ghana Premier League encounter saw the visitors pull off a major upset that got Kotoko stunned.
The match started with both teams playing cautiously, with few clear-cut chances in the opening stages.
However, Nations FC gradually grew in confidence and started to threaten the Kotoko defense.
Their persistence paid off in the third minute of first half additional time when Asamoah Afriyie Boateng scored from a header that went pass Moise Pouaty, who was in goal for Asante Kotoko.
Kotoko pushed for an equalizer in the second half. They dominated possession but struggled to break down a resolute Nations FC defense.
The visitors held firm, defending valiantly to secure a historic victory against the Porcupine Warriors.
Asante Kotoko’s run of losses continued. They’ve lost their last four league games and the pressure continues to mount on head coach, Dr. Prosper Ogum to turn the situation around.
This win for Nations FC moves them to only two points behind Samartex who occupy the summit of the league table.
