Former Black Stars striker Augustine Ahinful has called on young footballers to maintain discipline in every aspect of their careers if they want to reach the top of the game. Speaking in an interview with The BAC Sports, Ahinful stressed that discipline is the key to lasting success in football.

The former Ghana international, who enjoyed an illustrious career spanning clubs in Germany, Switzerland, Portugal, Italy, and Turkey, advised up-and-coming players to respect their coaches, teammates, and even opponents, as these values shape not just great footballers but great professionals.

One thing I would have done more if I was still playing is to be more disciplined, Ahinful revealed. Discipline brings success, and if I could go back, I would be disciplined in all aspects of my life.

Ahinful is widely remembered for finishing as the top scorer in the 1992–93 Ghana Premier League season with Goldfields Obuasi. He went on to play for elite European clubs including Borussia Dortmund in Germany, Grasshoppers in Switzerland, União de Leiria and Boavista in Portugal, Venezia in Italy, and Turkish sides Ankaragücü and Trabzonspor.

Internationally, he made several appearances for the Ghana national team, representing the country at major tournaments such as the 1993 FIFA World Youth Championship, the 1996 Summer Olympics, and the 2000 African Cup of Nations.
