Ouattara Confident of Black Galaxies’ Success Against Nigeria in CHAN Qualifiers

Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has expressed his firm belief in Ghana’s Black Galaxies ahead of their crucial clash with Nigeria in the first leg of the CHAN Qualifiers.

The match is set to take place on Sunday, December 22, in Ghana, with the return leg scheduled a week later in Nigeria.

Speaking passionately about the team’s chances, Ouattara revealed his confidence by sharing a personal anecdote. “I have told my wife to prepare her passport; we are going to Tanzania with Ghana’s CHAN team because I believe that this team can qualify,” he said.

The Black Galaxies, under the guidance of coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, are looking to replicate their success from two years ago. In the previous qualifiers, Ghana eliminated Nigeria on penalties under the stewardship of Coach Annor Walker to secure their place in the tournament.

Ouattara praised the current squad, emphasizing their ability to rise to the occasion against their long-standing rivals. “This team has what it takes to overcome Nigeria. I trust the players and the technical team to deliver,” he added.

The match against Nigeria promises to be a fiercely contested encounter, given the intense rivalry between the two nations. Ghanaians will be eager to see if the Black Galaxies can secure a strong result at home before traveling to Nigeria for the second leg.

Victory over Nigeria would mark another significant step for the team as they aim to book their spot in the 2024 CHAN tournament to be co-hosted by Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya.
