Patrice Motsepe has been re-elected unopposed as President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for another four-year term, reaffirming his commitment to advancing African football. His re-election was confirmed during the CAF Extraordinary General Assembly in Cairo on Wednesday, with FIFA President Gianni Infantino in attendance.

Since assuming office in 2021, Motsepe has led a financial revival within CAF, overseeing a record $72 million profit from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, settling outstanding debts, and increasing funding for competitions and member associations.

Our objective remains to enhance African football’s competitiveness on the global stage, ensure financial stability, and invest in infrastructure that fosters growth for our teams and players. Motsepe stated.

The assembly also saw elections for CAF’s Executive Committee, with Cameroonian football legend Samuel Eto’o and Ghana FA President Kurt Okraku securing seats.

Motsepe’s second term extends until 2029, as he aims to further strengthen African football’s international standing.
