Salah Makes History With Third PFA Player of the Year Award
Liverpool’s talisman Mohamed Salah has being crowned the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Men’s Player of the Year for the 2024/25 season.
The Egyptian has written his name in English football history, becoming the first player ever to win the award three times, capping off a remarkable campaign in which he spearheaded Liverpool’s charge to the Premier League title.
He has now surpassed the likes of Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kevin De Bryune, who have all won the accolade twice.
At 33 years old, Salah showed no signs of slowing down, finishing the season as the league’s top scorer with 29 goals while also providing 18 assists, underlining his enduring influence on Arne Slot’s side.
Reflecting on his journey from humble beginnings in Egypt to becoming one of the most decorated players in Premier League history, Salah said:
“Of course I wanted to be a football player and I wanted to be famous and provide for my family, but you don’t think about the big stuff when you are still in Egypt. When you grow, you start to see things differently and you start to have ambition and you start to see the bigger picture.”
The shortlist for the top award included an impressive lineup of stars — Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool), Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United), Alexander Isak (Newcastle United), Cole Palmer (Chelsea), and Declan Rice (Arsenal) — but Salah’s numbers and leadership proved decisive.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers was named PFA Young Player of the Year, marking a breakthrough season for the 22-year-old.
Salah’s latest honour comes in addition to being named both the Premier League Player of the Season and the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year, making him the undisputed standout performer of English football’s 2024/25 campaign.
With three PFA crowns now to his name, Salah’s legacy as one of the Premier League’s greatest ever attackers is firmly secure.
