Samartex Hands Vision FC First Defeat of the Season

Defending Ghana Premier League champions FC Samartex 1996 delivered Vision FC’s first defeat of the season with a hard-fought 2-1 victory at the Nsenkyire Sports Stadium in Samreboi on Matchday 4.

Vision FC, who entered the game unbeaten in their debut top-flight season, were determined to maintain their strong start and fought valiantly against the reigning champions. The match was an evenly contested affair, with both sides creating opportunities and battling for dominance throughout.

Samartex eventually broke the deadlock just before halftime. Isaac Afful capitalized on Vision’s defensive lapse, netting the opening goal in the 44th minute to give the home side a crucial lead going into the break.

Despite the setback, Vision FC continued to press for an equalizer in the second half. Their efforts were rewarded in the 71st minute when Gideon Ofori Offei found the back of the net, bringing the visitors level and igniting hopes of securing at least a point.

However, just when it seemed the match was headed for a draw, Samartex’s Michael Ephson struck late to secure the winning goal for the Timber Giants. His decisive finish sealed the 2-1 victory, giving Samartex their first win of the season following their exit from the CAF Champions League.

The defeat leaves Vision FC in 7th place on the league table with 5 points from four games, a respectable position for the newcomers. Meanwhile, Samartex climbs to 10th place with 4 points from two matches, as they now turn their full attention to defending their Premier League title.

This thrilling encounter highlighted Vision FC’s potential in the top tier, despite the defeat, while Samartex showed their championship quality by grinding out a vital win in front of their home fans.
