Asante Kotoko legend Sarfo Gyamfi has thrown his weight behind Karim Zito for the technical director role at the club, praising the veteran coach’s ability to develop young talents and steer the club into a new era of growth.
Speaking in an interview with Kessben FM, Gyamfi lauded Zito’s track record, particularly his recent work at Dreams FC, where he built a competitive squad despite losing a number of key players to foreign clubs.
Zito is a coach I like. No qualms if he becomes the substantive coach or remains as technical director, Gyamfi stated.
He can help develop players for us as a technical director. He is noted for unearthing talents considering what he did for Dreams FC. He was able to assemble a new team for this season after losing a chunk of players to clubs abroad.
Karim Zito returned to Asante Kotoko as interim head coach and technical director following the dismissal of Prosper Narteh Ogum, whose tenure ended due to a series of poor performances in the Ghana Premier League.
Since his return, Zito has brought renewed energy to the Porcupine Warriors, guiding them to the finals of the FA Cup and keeping them within reach of the league title with just three matches left in the season.
This weekend, Kotoko face a crucial test as they travel to face league leaders Bibiani Gold Stars in a highly anticipated matchday 32 fixture. Both teams are firmly in the title race and will be eager to grab maximum points to maintain their championship ambitions.
