As Ghana prepares for their crucial semifinal clash against Morocco in the 2024 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, experienced Black Queens player Sherifatu Sumaila has spoken confidently about the team’s unity, motivation, and belief.

Sumaila highlighted the importance of the occasion, not only for the players but for the entire nation.

“Getting to this stage of the tournament is a big deal, not just for us as players but for the entire country,” she said.

She also praised the impact of head coach Kim Björkegren, noting that the team has complete trust in his leadership.

“We trust our coach. He’s given us a clear game plan, and all we have to do is to follow it and give everything we’ve got.”

According to Sumaila, the blend of youth and experience in the squad has been one of the team’s biggest strengths throughout the tournament.

“Some of the younger players bring so much energy to the team. It lifts us. We the older players try to guide them and keep the team strong.”
