Former Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) chairman, Kudjoe Fianoo, has called on the Minister-designate for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, to review and restructure the Black Stars’ winning bonus system.

The Black Stars bonus structure has generated some controversy, with some critics claiming that certain players are more motivated by financial incentives than national pride.

While some have advocated for the complete removal of these payments, Fianoo believes it should be restructured and not canceled.

Speaking in an interview with Sporty FM, he urged Kofi Adams, who is also the Member of Parliament for Buem, to address the issue if approved as Minister.

“I want the new Sports Minister to handle this issue of co-efficient,” Fianoo stated. “He must restructure the bonus system of the Black Stars.”

Kofi Adams is expected to secure parliamentary approval following a successful vetting process. If confirmed, he will take over from Mustapha Ussif, who served as Sports Minister from 2021 to 2024.
