Ghanaian defender Tariq Lamptey delivered an outstanding performance to claim the Man of the Match award in his side’s 2-1 victory over Chelsea in the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup, at the Amex Satdium.

Facing his former club, Lamptey played the entire match as Brighton staged a comeback to eliminate the Blues at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea took an early lead in the 5th minute after Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen scored an own goal. However, the Seagulls responded swiftly, with Georginio Rutter equalizing in the 12th minute before Kaoru Mitoma netted the winner in the 57th minute.

The Black Stars defender was instrumental in Brighton’s defensive solidity, making nine tackles and winning 11 of his 13 duels. He also showcased his composure on the ball, completing 33 of his 39 attempted passes.

Lamptey has been in fine form this season, tallying three goals and two assists in 14 appearances across all competitions.
