With the Bundesliga title race heating up and the Champions League knockout rounds underway, Thomas Müller says his full focus is on the battles ahead, not the looming end of his storied Bayern Munich career.
Speaking to ESPN after Bayern’s 2–2 draw with Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, the 35-year-old veteran made it clear he’s not getting caught up in emotions just yet.
We are now in the big competitions, I don’t think too much about what is coming next, Müller said. I’m well prepared for the games. I know the end will come fast here at Bayern. Now it’s made of April and maybe when we get to the Champions League finals, it will be longer.
Thomas Muller announced early this month that he will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season, closing the chapter on a 25-year journey that saw him become one of the most iconic figures in the club’s history. Yet, even with his farewell approaching, Müller continues to play a pivotal role.
In Saturday’s Klassiker, Müller came off the bench and delivered a crucial assist to help Bayern secure a draw, a reminder of the intelligence, timing, and leadership that have defined his career.
Earlier this month, Müller reflected on his time at the club:
My 25 years as a player for FC Bayern will come to an end this summer. It has been an incredible journey, marked by unique experiences and unforgettable triumphs. I feel enormous gratitude.
With 33 trophies under his belt, including 12 Bundesliga titles and 2 Champions League wins, Müller is among the most decorated players in German football history.
But for now, he’s determined to make the most of every minute in Bayern colors, and possibly stretch his farewell until June with another Champions League final appearance.
