Thomas Partey Makes Villarreal Debut in Victory Over Real Oviedo

Ghana international Thomas Partey made his competitive debut for Villarreal on Saturday night, helping the Yellow Submarine to a 2-0 La Liga win over newly promoted Real Oviedo at the Estadio de la Cerámica.

First-half strikes from Etta Eyong and Pape Gueye proved decisive, securing the club’s first three points of the season.

Partey, who recently joined Villarreal after leaving Arsenal, was introduced in the 82nd minute for Santi Comesaña as Villarreal sought to protect their lead.

The midfielder’s appearance drew particular attention, coming amid ongoing legal proceedings in the UK, where he faces rape charges. Partey is currently playing because he has been granted bail.

Despite the off-field headlines, Partey looked his usual self, dictating the pace of the game.

Real Oviedo were reduced to ten men after Alberto Reina was sent off for a second bookable offense. Prior to that, Salomon Rodon had failed to opened the scoring from the spot when the visitors were awarded a penalty kick.

The home side rose from their early slumber to secure the win.
