The founder of Right to Dream Academy, Tom Vernon, has called on the Ghanaian government to implement a national talent identification strategy to nurture and develop athletes across various sports.

Speaking at the JoySports National Dialogue, a thought-leadership program aimed at shaping the future of Ghanaian sports, Vernon expressed concerns over Ghana’s declining performance in major competitions, including the Africa Cup of Nations and the Olympic Games.

There is nothing I can do without the performance of Ghana’s talented youth. Vernon stated.

He further emphasized that Ghana has the ability to shift from a natural resource-based economy to a talent-driven economy, provided there is a well-structured system in place.

The starting point is to develop a national talent identification strategy, but also a global talent identification strategy. He added.

Vernon has played a key role in talent development for the past 25 years having founded and led the Right to Dream Football Academy as Chief Executive.

Under his leadership, the academy has expanded significantly, establishing three additional academies and professional clubs in Denmark, Egypt, and the United States.
