Vision FC have secured their place in the semifinals of the Division One Super Cup following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Basake Holy Stars.
Frank Duku’s 74th-minute strike, just three minutes after his introduction in the game proved to be the decisive moment in the match, giving Vision FC the crucial three points.
The win, coupled with results elsewhere in the group, confirmed their progression to the next stage of the competition.
The victory was made even more impressive by the fact that Vision FC were reduced to ten men late in the game after Kingsley Appiah was sent off. However, they managed to hold on to their slender lead to secure the vital win.
Appiah replaced Godfrey Boakye in the starting lineup for today’s game due to the latter’s injury in the opening game, but had to endure a torrid time, receiving his marching orders from the game.
With their place in the semifinals confirmed, Vision FC will now turn their attention to their final group match against Techiman Heroes.
While the outcome of that game will determine their finishing position in the group, it doesn’t affect their chances of progression and the team can now focus on preparing for the knockout stages of the tournament.
