crossorigin="anonymous"> We Learnt Hard Lessons From Black Stars’ AFCON 2025 Qualification Failure - GFA President Kurt Okraku -

For the first time in two decades, the Black Ghana will be absent from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after failing to qualify for the 2025 edition.

The four-time African champions endured a challenging qualification campaign, finishing at the bottom of their group with just three points from six matches recording three defeats and three draws.

Despite securing wins against Mali and the Central African Republic earlier in 2024, their overall performance fell short of expectations.

Reflecting on the disappointment, Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku acknowledged the difficult lessons learned from the team’s underwhelming campaign.

I think hard lessons have been learned by everybody, myself included. I hope that the players, technical team, and everyone involved will take this as motivation to fulfill our responsibilities to the nation. He told 3sports.

With their AFCON hopes dashed, the Black Stars are now shifting focus to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The team will resume training in Accra on Monday, March 17, 2025, as they prepare for upcoming fixtures.

Ghana will host Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, before traveling to Morocco for a Group I encounter against Madagascar on Monday, March 24, 2025.
