Barcelona fans can breathe a sigh of relief as club legend Xavi Hernandez appears to be staying put.

Xavi announced earlier in the season that he would leave his managerial position at Barca at the end of the season, but a dramatic turn of events has seen him agree to see out his contract, which runs until June, 2025.

Despite leading the club to a La Liga title in 2023, his tenure this season has been more challenging sitting 11 points behind bitter rivals, Real Madrid in the la Liga.

However, according to Barcelona vice president Rafa Yuste, Xavi has had a change of heart and is “really happy” to be staying.

This U-turn is sure to be welcomed by many Barcelona supporters. Xavi is a club icon, having enjoyed a glittering playing career at Camp Nou.

His appointment as manager in 2021 was seen as a return to the club’s philosophy and a way to rebuild after a turbulent period.

The specific reasons behind Xavi’s initial decision to leave remain unclear.

However, Barcelona’s faith in him, coupled with potential assurances from the club’s hierarchy, seem to have convinced him to stay on.

With Xavi at the helm, Barcelona fans can look forward to a period of stability and continued development under a true club legend.
