Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Justice Blay has issued an official public apology following a controversial interview in which he made several sensitive remarks about his time at the club, including personal allegations involving former teammates and management.

In a statement released on July 11, 2025, under the banner of the JBLAY Foundation, Blay expressed regret over the comments he made during a live appearance on Pure FM Sports earlier in the day. The midfielder admitted that his remarks were influenced by deep personal emotions stemming from his recent departure from the club.

“Upon reflection, I recognize that my words may have caused disappointment or offense to the club, my former teammates, the passionate supporters, and specific individuals whose names were mentioned,” Blay wrote.

He offered a “sincere and unreserved apology” to the entire Asante Kotoko Sporting Club fraternity, including its management, technical team, players, and fans, emphasizing that it was never his intention to bring the club into disrepute or discredit those he had the honour of working with.

Blay, who recently parted ways with the Porcupine Warriors after mutually terminating his contract, acknowledged the significant role the club has played in his professional growth, describing Kotoko as holding a “special place” in his heart.

“While my emotions got the better of me in that moment, I take full responsibility for my words and understand the importance of communicating with greater professionalism and respect, regardless of circumstance,” he added.

The former Medeama SC midfielder also noted that the incident has served as a valuable lesson in emotional discipline and humility, and pledged to become not just a better footballer, but a better person.

Blay concluded his statement by extending his deepest apologies to the Kotoko family and wished the club continued growth and success in its future endeavours.

The apology comes after widespread media attention and public backlash following his earlier explosive claims, which included allegations of favouritism, internal conflicts, and personal betrayals during his stint with the Ghanaian giants.
