GFA Boosts Support for Women’s Premier League with Increased Incentives

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has pledged to maintain—and in some areas expand—its comprehensive support package for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) in the upcoming season.

Building on last year’s initiatives, the FA will continue to absorb referees’ fees for all 20 participating clubs, a commitment valued at GHS 1,050,000. Clubs will also receive 30 pairs of football boots each, worth GHS 2,115,420 in total, and 30 footballs apiece, valued at GHS 330,000.

Other interventions, such as the Bus Acquisition Strategy, fuel support from Goil, and additional backing from Melcom Ghana, will remain in place to ease logistical and operational challenges.

In a significant boost, the cash incentive per club will increase from GHS 60,000 to at least GHS 100,000, underscoring the FA’s determination to drive growth in the women’s game.

The GFA says these measures reaffirm its long-term commitment to raising the standard and competitiveness of women’s football in Ghana.
