Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has emphasized the urgent need for a reset in sports, particularly football.
He made this statement during a press briefing after meeting the Interim Management Committee of Kumasi Asante Kotoko following the tragic death of Francis Yaw “Pooley” Frimpong. Pooley’s passing reportedly occurred during the Ghana Premier League Week 19 match between Nsoatreman FC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko at Nsoatre.
In response, several high-level meetings have been held, involving the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ghana Police Service, Premier League teams, and club supporters. Adams’ meeting with Kotoko’s IMC was the latest in these discussions.
We have reached a point where all of us, including the GFA, must recognize the need for a reset—one that affects all aspects of our sports and football. That is the key takeaway from my engagement with Kotoko’s IMC and supporters. Overall, it was a fruitful discussion, he stated.
