Asante Kotoko head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum has issued a rallying call to his players ahead of their crunch Ghana Premier League showdown against Nations FC, stressing the need for “overcommitment” and “determination” to secure maximum points.

Speaking ahead of the Round 28 fixture, Ogum acknowledged the formidable form of their opponents, currently second on the table with 48 points.

Nations FC are a high-flying side, they are doing very well, and for us to pick maximum points against them, we need to be overly committed and overly determined, he stated.

The Porcupine Warriors have hit a rough patch in recent weeks, going winless in their last three league matches. They suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat to Accra Lions and were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw at home by Bechem United, piling pressure on the team at a crucial point in the season.

Ogum didn’t hold back in expressing his dissatisfaction.

I’m not happy at all about the kind of performance we put up over a few games and the result we have gotten out of those games, he said.

Hinting at possible changes or a renewed approach heading into this weekend’s clash.

Kotoko, currently third with 47 points, face a Nations FC side that not only sits above them in the standings but has also beaten them twice this season, both times without conceding a goal. With just one point separating the two teams, Saturday’s clash at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex could prove pivotal in the title race.
