Nations FC continued their dominance over Asante Kotoko with a commanding 2-0 victory on Sunday in Round 28 of the Ghana Premier League, solidifying their push for the title and extending Kotoko’s winless run to four matches.

Goals from Nafiu Sulemana in the 15th minute and Emmanuel Annor deep into first-half stoppage time (45+4) were enough to seal a third consecutive win over the Porcupine Warriors, who once again struggled to find answers in a fixture that has proven tough in recent times.

Nations FC came out of the blocks with purpose and intent, pinning Kotoko back early on. Their pressure paid off when Sulemana found the net with a composed finish to give the hosts a deserved lead. Just before the halftime whistle, Emmanuel Annor doubled the advantage with a clinical strike, leaving Kotoko stunned and with a mountain to climb.

Despite a more spirited second-half display from Kotoko, Nations FC maintained their shape and discipline, comfortably seeing out the match to secure another vital three points.

The win sees Nations FC move to 51 points from 28 games, reclaiming second place and closing in on league leaders Bibiani Gold Stars. Asante Kotoko, on the other hand, have slipped to fourth with 47 points, losing further ground in the title chase.

For Kotoko head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, the result adds to a growing list of frustrations. Ahead of the match, he called for “overcommitment” and admitted he was unhappy with recent performances, a sentiment that will likely intensify after yet another flat showing.
