Black Stars defender, Alexander Djiku played a crucial role in Fenerbahce’s emphatic 5-0 win over Erzurumspor in the Turkish Cup on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.

Djiku was part of a three-man defense that ensured a clean sheet in the Round 2 fixture at the Ülker Stadium in Istanbul.

He didn’t last the entire duration of the game but Fenerbachce supporters were impressed with the Ghanaian’s performance until his substitution in the 55th minute.

The home side broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute when Brazilian forward Anderson Talisca found the net, giving Fenerbahce a narrow lead at halftime.

After the break, veteran striker Cenk Tosun doubled the advantage from the penalty spot in the 50th minute. Mert Yandaş then added his name to the scoresheet before Moroccan forward Youssef En-Nesyri sealed the victory with a late brace.

With this dominant win, Fenerbahce have progressed to the next round of the Turkish Cup.
